"White Guilt"

I really hope you're kidding. The reason why so many people try to rip off tourists is because so many of them seem like such sheep and overpay in the first place. Many Asian cultures don't respect you for overpaying. They'll think you're gullible and stupid. I'm not talking about a 20% tip on top of the 10% that is included already in Thailand. I'm talking about giving a $20 tip for a $4 foot massage. $50 tip for a $6 taxi ride. This may make you feel less guilty about the poor have nots, but just inflates everything for everyone else.

I'm allergic to rip offs. I hate them with a passion, and whether it's $1 or $100, I don't want anything to do with it. I hate going to a country that has no tipping, or all the tipping is included in your bill and everyone has their hand out asking for more.

You go to a country to see a different culture, not to turn them into Americans.

Just trying to get a taxi, without the driver trying to charge me double can be a bear sometimes. They have meters in the car for a reason. If you want to be charitable, find an orphanage, or other organization that can really help people. I see people with "white guilt" (Or 1st world guilt, or whatever is the PC word for it), who think they have to throw money around.
