My reply was because I used to have this problem a lot as my wife is a Thai National. It makes sense that if your having different joiners dropping by each night at the same hotel it ain't gonna work.

As far as the ID card thing goes, I have had friends get robbed and at nice hotels. The joiner gives the ID card to the desk and just picks it up very early in the morning. The front desk night security is very easy to bribe. By the time he awoke and found out that his money, credit cards and travelers checks were gone the joiner was long gone hours before. No one new anything or would even admit they new he had a joiner.
