So a few weeks ago I was rerouted around Chicago due to weather and was charged 500-milers for the upgrade on a flight I never took (actually, I was really PO'ed - I had an upgrade on a 777 from ORD-DEN, and it looks like it was a three class with me double-up'ed to F! Curse the weather!).
Anyway, I called MP CS and asked for the miles to be recredited. A week passes and no credit was issued.
So I called a few minutes ago and was told some interesting stuff. First, the agent told me that they were way behind since they just closed a service center and that it would likely be 2 weeks before I saw them recredited.
I have 10 banked, but I was booking a bunch of flights the next week and wanted them if I needed them. So I told her I really needed the milers for two flights I had planned (I doubt I needed all of them, to be honest).
The agent says that she used to work in that department and can likely do it herself. Within 20 seconds, she'd credited the milers to my account.
So, a valuable rule that FT has tought me came into play: When someone at UA says no, you need to push them a little bit. So I can't decide if I got good CS or bad.
