BACK to answer your question:
The best gay places to go with a younger crowd are Roscoe's I think Friday...
There is also an afterhours club to goto that is fun thats in a country bar but its house music after it reopens for afterhours.
I think all the clubs are 21 and up unless there is a club I didn't find out about. Roscoe's seemed much younger than the crowds at the other bars in boystown.
I recommend the Best Western Hawthorn Terrace if you go out to the gay bars. It is within walking distance.
If you really want younger, Spin (corner of Halsted/Belmont) has the youngest crowd. The gays in Chicago migrate from Spin to Roscoe's to Sidetrack to i guess Little Jims as they get older, it seems. Cocktail, Minibar, and Hydrate have a mix of 20s and 30s. Not sure what Circuit is like now.
The referenced after hours club is Charlie's. Music is mostly dance remixes of old and new. Get in line for the bathroom early or you'll find yourself standing in line for 15+ minutes just to use the bathroom. But I guess you can put that time to use if you meet your fellow bathroom mates. Alcohol is free pour (or it was the last time I went) and fairly inexpensive. Try not to stay until closing when the lights come up, it gets scary. But, that's to be said of all bars.
Have a great time in Chicago!
