I was recently in Istanbul and was surprised at the lack of people who approached us. No one bothered us and the few that spoke to us was sales people at the Grand Bazaar and it was just a comment or two, before they moved on to the next person walking by. I expected more hassle and touts in Turkey.
Istanbul was one of my favorite tourist towns. It was more real because we mixed right in with the people. It was not like Prague where everyone was a tourist. Istanbul had a gritty real world aspect to it but I came in contact with no con men or problems.
