I guess that the "name" is a primary key in the Skywards database as this element cannot be changed in the profile settings. I sent an email to Skywards asking them to modify this, but did not get a response.
What should I do
1. Just ignore the wrong name (are there any consequences?)
2. Perform a new enrollment with exactly the same details, this time with the correct name (does this work, or does the reuse of the passport number lead to the treatment of the enrollment as a duplicate?)
3. Try to get in touch with Emirates (who do I contact,as email does not lead to desired result)
Thanks all,

1. Yes. Your miles would never automatically post unless your ticket had the same typo.
2. I would try this. I was "flagged" as a duplicate entry when I first tried, but a simply call to EK resulted in them cancelling the enrollment that I didn't want.
3. Yes. Phone Emirates Office in a big city (DXB/NYC.)
