I probably haven't been clear. I'm trying to get to AMS for a short stay (< 24 hours). Flying SAT-[US hub]-AMS-[US hub]-SAT is much more expensive than flying SAT-[US hub]-LGW, LHR-AMS [overnight]-[US hub]-SAT. Ahh, the joys of airline pricing.
