This is also not allowed on US carriers...you have to use the extensions supplied by the airline. The extensions you bring with you may buckle with the belts on the aircraft, but they are not designed to work in concert with the on-board belts should there be an emergency. Dont get caught doing this, you could get in serious trouble with the FAA should there be any problems/emergency or possibly and FAA inspector on the flight.
