My standby flight showed up as Y, got 1.5 segments for it...

...but of course, no bonus EQM/RDM.
I was delayed on MKE-ORD 10/13 due to weather. I stood by for (and made) UA149 ORD-SFO, and I guess because I misconnected, my waitlist/standby code was changed to Y at the gate. (I was on a discount coach fare, S or W, I think.)
I was a little suprised to see the .5 segment post to my mileage summary, because I knew from reading FT that the gate agents will change my res. details to help me get on the next available flight, but that the new code only affects boarding priority, not mileage earned or anything like that.
Anyone else have a similar experience? I would imagine that extra .5 segment will go away sometime in the future. (no, I don't need it for status.)

By the way, the GA working UA149 on 10/13 was Carl, and he had to be the best and funniest GA I've ever come across on any airline. The weather at ORD was garbage all day, and there were about a zillion people trying to stand by on what was already a very full 757. The potential for chaos/confusion/angry pax was high. Carl was patient with everyone, always had a smile, saying "I promise I'll do my best." My upgrade had cleared at the window for UA145, but I missed it when I got delayed in MKE. I showed him my original F BP, and he said "Well, flyinryan, I could upgrade you on this one, I guess, but whose lap will you sit on?" I told him I wasn't too picky.
I was one of the first to clear the standby list, with an E- middle, but I didn't care, I just wanted to get home.
During boarding, he calls for Seating 1, and says: "Now, don't you folks try to crowd up here and sneak on here early - there is a device here that will see you are in Group 4, and it will vaporize your boarding pass, and I'll have to rebook you to SFO via Abu Dhabi in cargo class."
After it looked like boarding was just about done, Carl comes on the plane and announces that "we are waiting for 36 people who are landing from a flight across the Atlantic. Unfortunately for them, that flight is on bmi. Now, I want to get all of you on your way, but they deserve to go to SFO on this airline. They will definitley be here in about 5 minutes. I would almost certainly expect them here in 5-10 minutes, very likely within the next 10-20 minutes, and probably within the next 20-30 minutes."
The big tour group of UK seniors got on board a few minutes later, and they were very happy to have made the flight.
Kudos to Carl - I wish there were about 1000 more GA's like him!
