My wife needed a few extra miles to keep her PLT status.
As for calling the EXP line, I did that. They weren't able to help as it was now at airport control. They did offer $100 vouchers each as it was the most they're allowed to give. That was the ONLY offer I recieved.
I guess I will never understand why anyone would fly hours out of their way for "status". In NY or DFW, PLT doesn't get you much. I have also not known AA to "block" seats on another flight when holding existing reservations.
