Well I've been a long time reader of these forums but this is my first post and I thought I seek the advice of the friendly and experienced people of these boards about a situation I've come across and despite being a long post please read on and give me some feedback.

I flew in on AC744 from LAX to YYZ this sunday evening in Executive with one piece of checked baggage.
As soon as I got home and tried to open my checked 24" Samsonite I noticed the bag had been opened as I always close the zippers to a specific side just under one of the hinges of carry handles as to know if my bag had been tampered with or not.

Next sign came as soon as I opened the bag. I have small black Gillette travelling cosmetic bag that I use mainly to store my contact lenses, eye drops, pills, memory cards and my digital camera in its case. I also close this bag in a special way and lo' n behold, it was completely open despite the fact that I closed it carefully all the way this morning when packing. What was more interesting was my empty digital camera case that was outside the case and on some of my shirts. He probably took it off to make the camera more pocket-able I guess.

To cut to the chase, I carefully looked at all my stuff and found my brand new Canon PowerShot SD700 IS camera and 2 CircuitCity gift cards worth $100 combined missing out of my bag.

I really don't think I can get any of my stuff back but I want to file a claim in hopes that maybe this idiot gets nailed.

So, my questions are:

1- Who do you think could have had the time and access to go through my bag? TSA, AC Baggage Handlers or any LAX Employees?

2- Whats the best course of action? I intend to file complaints with as many agencies as possible so any advice on this is appreciated.
