Were you in Row 3 or looking into F from C? There is no question that if Row 2 in front of you reclines all the way and you recline all the way, your feet get caught between your legrest and the seat in front. I take out the blanket and all their various AA inflight magazines which does make a slight differences - provides a couple more inchest between legrest and seat back.

If you dont plan to fully recline or the seat in front of you doesnt then wont be a problem - i think the pitch is 53-55 inches, but at the end of the day a lot of this is personal preference.
