If they are two years old they are the old style. They have an underengineered piece of plastic on either side of the head that is subject to failure with repeated torsion. Different people have different experience with the failures. I suspect head size has a lot to do with it, as I have a larger than average head and mine have a history of breaking frequently (one of the reasons I switched to the Shures).
