Ebay pricing is usually very close to retail. In many cases I have actually seen it higher that the retail stores.
I have had excellent service through the Bose store in Seattle. I purchased a speaker system that was on sale at 15% off at all the Bose stores when I bought it. Ebay prices were retail plus, not including shipping. They also offered interest free financing on the system, and, YES, I will pay it off before the period expires.
I also purchased the QC-2's at the same time, at full retail. Less than a month later, they went on sale through their website & stores. When I called Bose in Seattle, they immediately refunded the difference.
Bottom line though, is that you really have to keep your eye on the stores to get their special deals. ^ ^
