I am in Le Meridian Cancun now, and I got Lagoon 1BR Suite after asking.
The room which was originally assigned was just the same category that I reserved.
However, the lady at concierge did a good job to find the available suite.
The room has full lagoon view, but partial ocean.
It is spacious and a lot of windows with two bathrooms.
I also checked the ocean view regular room facing the pools, but because of the construction next lot, the view was not great(ocean was beautiful).

I my opinion, cancun has a lot of new construction going on and seems huge construction site, even from the le Meridian to the main street.
