checked in on-line at work this morning (8:30 pst) and got my redemption card as i'm using a paper u/g. no problem and i'll do the swap at oak in the morning.
checked my e-mail at home tonight and rec'd the reminder e-mail from ua about using olci and i noticed that it listed both flights so i got curious to see if i was able to check in for the return flight as well as i'm now within the 24 hour window where one can check-in for a return flight with an agent.
i went to olci and just below and to the left of my checked in flight was an option to show additional flights so i clicked it and lo and behold, there was my return flight and i was able to check in for my iad-oak return flight albeit with another redemption card as i'm using another paper cert but it did work.
now all i gotta do is take care of the swap at oak tomorrow morning and apologies but i deleted the e-mail and am not 100% sure of the wording of the "new button" but it is there just below and to the left of the first checked in flight
There have been several reports of this with the $109 MRs. If you wait until 24 hours before you last leg, you can check in all at once and get all boarding passes. I just checked in for my SFO-ORD-BDL-ORD-SFO MR tomorrow and received all 4 boarding passes.
When you start the check in process the next page will show that you have an additional flight within the next 24 hours and asks if you want to check in for that flight now. If you select yes, you proceed to check in for the outbound and after printing your boarding passes the #3 option is a link to check in for additional flights and you print those boarding passes next.
