I've never had this happen in PHX with AA, so it must be an America West thing.
Furthermore, this does nothing to prevent someone from coming airside with a Photoshopped BP. Who's going to report to the podium with such a pass.
Furthermore, if someone tried to board with such a pass, it would be rejected.
In other words, this BP replacement by the GA is a complete waste of time and cardstock.
