Well my credit card was charged, but thought the above information might be of some interest. Guess I need to call the W TS to get this reversed.
Actually, this should be the amount that Starwood paid the hotel for the award; it's like a wholesale or bulk rate, i.e., much lower than an individual customer would normally pay (but similar to, perhaps, a Priceline/Hotwire, crew, or tour group rate, etc.). Been discussed before on this and other hotel forums....
Of course it was a mistake that they actually charged your credit card for it (if they did)! However, sometimes hotel folios (for award stays) have shown the bulk rate, but it was NOT charged to the guest (can't remember offhand if I've seen this with Hilton or Starwood or both).
