Well I'm sorry. Flights were canceled, which is not too uncommon. If LH had had any intent on helping their passengers, by Sunday 8/13 they could have made preparations. They chose to ignore the passengers and send them away (if you weren't ignored in the first place). That cannot be excused by "extraordinary circumstances".

It is not how LH handles everyday situations, but what they do when things go bad that really show what to expect.

I'm not saying that LH will treat their passengers like that every time a flight gets canceled, but I've definitely lost trust in them. I'm no longer sure LH's handling agents outside Germany do care.
