Great advice. Until I finally got shuffled to the correct desk for the oneworld awards--partially my fault as I didn't say it that explicitly (instead descried it) the first time. Though I can't understand why the AAdvantage oneworld desk had no problem whatsoever with adding up the taxes/fees through a shortcut program without needing to go through the bother of inputting a complete ticket, while a "regular" award [partner? since I did say Asia and Australia] would have (or at least that's what that TA/CS rep said, sounding very much like they didn't want to do all that, so I thanked them and hung up).

When I did the second call, I remembered to say "oneworld award", and that got me to a different desk and a reletively quick answer (it took the computer some time to chug it out, but I didn't mind the time).

For anyone interested, the flight will be in business class, from WAS, through YYZ (switch to BA) and LHR to NRT, then HKG (on CX), three airports in Australia and two in New Zealand (QF of course), and a transit back through Australia enroute home--in all, 14 segments with 7 stopovers. Came out to $412.40, + $15 to do the ticket over the phone.

Thanks very much, everyone!

Steve
