A Considerate CNN Reporter
I'm in Sao Paulo, with the television tuned to CNN, following the small plane crash in NYC. A CNN reporter was just interviewing an eye-witness who lived in the building. One of the things she said was that she was very worried that some of her neighbors might have been killed by the crash. The reporter took 20 or 30 seconds to update her (and us) advising that, other than the two casualties on the ground, and some apparently minor injuries, including to firefighters, there were no other deaths and everyone in the building was okay.
I thought this was a very nice thing to do -- he didn't regard his interviewee as "news meat," but saw her as a real person and took a moment to reassure her.
^ to the CNN reporter.
