In the middle of a similar palavar at the moment.
Went to ADL with BF. Hired car from Europcar for long weekend. No visible damage. Drive around alot - wineries, olive farms, cheeseries etc. Drop car off late Monday. Guy collecting keys walks round car while we are changing from shorts/t-shirts into jeans etc due to going from 25C to 12C. Guy collecting keys walks away as we are still phaffing around. Comes back five minutes later, walks around again. We hand over keys and ask do we need to sign anything. No says he. We trundle off to DJ counters to check in and go indulge in iced chocolates from the shop that is past security.
Get to MEL - I turn on mobile to check messages as my PhD supervisor was supposed to confirm a Tuesday meeting time. Message from Europcar asking us to phone. We ring, they claim 2 10 cm scratches on drives door "apparently" appeared after the car was washed. eeeer car wasnt that dirty says BF - dusty yes, dirty no.
They sent photos and there is NO way that we could have
1. missed those scratches
2.. caused them....

Dunno what the status is - BF was going to talk to travel insurance company. So its a WORLD WIDE thing.
