It was explained to us that lens solution is not medically necessary because contacts are not medically necessary. Lenses are worn for either vanity or comfort purposes (both reasons for me), but glasses can be worn. But just for the sake of argument, contact lens solution can come - as a 3 oz or less toiletry.
I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. There are several eye conditions that the general treatment of the condition is the wearing of a contact lens. One of the major and more common one that I am aware of is where only one eye is in need of correction. In the past a monocole would be used, but today typically treatment is a contact lens. Additionally contact lenses are used in the treatment of conditions including bullous keratopathy, dry eyes, corneal ulcers and erosion, keratitis, corneal edema, descemetocele, corneal ectasis, Mooren's ulcer, anterior corneal dystrophy, and neurotrophic keratoconjunctivitis. If you are being treated for any of those conditions, it is necessary to be able to safely clean the lens. Therefore, TSA cannot state that contact lens solution is not medically necessary without first practicing medicine.
