Oh, I believe it. I arrived at my uncle's home just a moment too late to see him drop the bird into the boiling oil and have it spill out all over the deck. No fire, though that would have been hilarious. Tragic, but hilarious. What can you do but laugh off something so ridiculous?

"How'd the house burn down, John?"
'Turkey did it."

BTW, the bird did cook after the spill, but was unfortunately overcooked. We did dueling birds that year. Id've voted for the fried one had been done properly. It was dried out just as can happen from an oven. Also tragic..
