This was always something of an issue at Don Muang too. Isn't the problem caused by the aircraft rotations, in that TG deploy intercontinental aircraft on both short haul and long haul routes. When flying a big aircraft shorthaul it will not be anywhere close to being full of fuel, since this would be both inefficient and potentially dnagerous.. Thus if the same aircraft is rotated from a shorthaul operation to a longhaul operation it must be refuelled. It is safer to carry out this refuelling away from the terminal building (especially in the light of the spontaneously combusting TG 737 at the old BKK airport).
Nok air do not have the same issue, sinc all their aircraft are deployed for shorthaul operations only, they will need far less intensive fuelling as a result and may be able to complete several rotations from a single "fuel stop".
