I know where Rudi is coming from... he has his own 'system' which works great for him. My view is that however good the alliance, there are always benefits of being a member of the FFP who's metal you are actually on.

For Star I am top-level elite with UA, LH, AC & BD - all of which have their own perks and benefits.

The fun comes in working out which card to use for benefits and which card to use for miles on each flight - they are not always the same!
