It worked out for me since the hour wait became about 5 minutes and he got a little a something as well. I have no problem with these kickbacks as long as the the concierge is upfront about it.
being upfront is one thing. but being USA properties, i wouldn't be surprised if users of such knowledge begin to use the fact "these concierges get a tip" to avoid tipping or demand aggressively more services claiming these concierges are being paid by the restaurant. what i would be concerned about is if the concierge is being tipped on an individual basis vs sharing the tip with other concierges ona collective basis.
