On the european portion I think TK has 2x2 J seats (rather than those convertible 2x3 ones that BA has) so I would give the edge to TK. If you can get on a A310 IST-LHR-IST I would definately go with TK as I believe they have dedicated (not convertible) J seats.

If you can put up with the CE seat, then it's BA for service. No contest.
The competition on many of the longer sh routes have bigger 2x2 seats (SU to SVO, CY to LCA) but BA remains nevertheless the airline of preference on these routes.
Just worth bearing in mind that TK does fly from T3, so if you are connecting from AA (at T3) that makes the transfer easy. Not sure that's a good enough reason to take TK though.
BA is an even easier connection though, T1 to T1.
