if you fly LH more than AC, then the AC program won't help at all to upgrade on those longhaule LH flights. From Switzerland AC offers only one flight per day (and never at high discounted fares).

From Switzerland, AC offers much higher priced eco-tarifs (and less promotions) than LH does, and with LH tickets you can upgrade on any paid fare. And as a Senator, I did get free upgrades (upgrades without any miles deducted, unfortunately that loophole closes dec-31-2000), but still there are those complimentary upgrade vouchers (international: one per 100'000 miles and I got another one for XMas in late 1999).
