To elaborate a little more - if you qualify for Plt through challenge in 2nd half of this yr then it is good through end Feb '08. If you got Plt through challenge last yr or 1st half this yr then in order to be Plt March '07 to End Feb '08 you need to do any of the following:

Buy the status with pre-paid card (maybe this is over now??)

Retain status with the buy to retain offer that MAY or May not be offered end of this year as in previous years and didnt buy back last year.

Fly enough to receive 50,000 EQMs
Fly enough to receive 50,000 EQPs
Fly 60 Segments

If you peruse the link I gave above you will note that certain fare codes receive 1.5 points, 1 point or 0.5 points per mile flown. Not all flights earn EQMs/EQPs so check AA.com for that too. All domestic US fares booked through AA.com etc. earn EQMs/EQPs (beware of consolidator fares). Not all partners give EQMs/EQPs either.
