Or you could go see the movie, "Memoirs of a Geisha" (even if the stars are Chinese) and save a few thousand dollars!

For women, there is a fairly reasonably priced tour where they make you up like an assistant geisha (maiko) and take photos. I believe it's available in Tokyo as well as Kyoto. That might be more fun than paying a woman in a kimono $500 an hour to laugh at your jokes, pour your sake, and play a strange-sounding guitar-like instrument.
