rozy, your "solution" is definitely not what biscoito asked for becasue, as I understood him, he wants to make a normal reservation well in advance, have the ticket issued and then wants to exchange this normal award ticket for an FlySmart award ticket. And this won't work for normal (i.e. base or FTL) members. There may be some possibilities for SEN but I don't know about them.
What you did was just fiddeling with the return of the confirmation fax. While you can do that for some days M&M will definitely cancel your itinerary if you take too much time. And re: airport taxes etc: I'm surprised that you have to pick up your ticket at the CTO and pay for taxes etc. in cash. In Germany M&M will only issue tickets against credit card because that is how they charge for taxes!
