In Turkish M&M Desk, first I call them to make my reservation. After the reservation, they ask for a fax number. Then they fax me the reserved free ticket's itinerary and ask me to sign that and fax it back to them. As soon as they have the signed fax, they take the miles from my account. No turning back after this point.
So I never send the fax before I am really really sure. By this way, I can do changes on my reservation or cancel it. I always took my ticket about 4-5 days before departure.
Only thing that make me angry about this procedure is that I have to go (or send somebody) to Lufthansa Office to take the ticket. And they are not accepting credit card for airport taxes. I am not sure how they are doing it for out of city members.
