No, but remember, we're dealing with the blue demons. Indeed they don't know who will board last. But they can suddenly decide, after four fifths of the checked-in pax have boarded, and when they know that somewhere in the bowels of Schiphol are full complement + 20 pax in Y, that they will need to op-up some pax after all. And at that point, they start opupping backpackers, DL fliers, irops folks, anyone who enters the gate area. Some of their seats have already been reassigned for the pax boarding ahead of them.
The key here is KL's random propensity to reassign coach seats even when there are no opups or opnonups to be considered. I have no idea why they do this, but it happens frequently. Rarely indeed do I arrive at AMS from conus and occupy the seat for which I have a NW-issued BP.
