For what it's worth, all the oil and gas people (all the expats in general, actially) that I knew in Lagos were either flying paid business or first class already. I never saw any real significant benefit to the membership since most of the members would be flying in a premium cabin to begin with and would have access to the assorted arrival and departure lounges already.

The day room might be nice, but I don't think I've ever had a six hour layover given the routes I typically flew (IAD/MSP/NYC-CDG-LOS). It seems like they would be rare for most oil and gas travelers as well.
