Overall, the Cardinal is less desirable because of the lack of a full dining car, but the scenery is superior. Why not take #50 Cardinal eastbound so you have a full day viewing W. Virginia scenery, and then take #29 Capitol Limited westbound for a more luxurious trip on Superliners, with a full dining car, lounge car, and upper deck ride. The Viewliner sleepers on the Cardinal are, IMHO, comparable to the Superliner sleepers on the Capitol, but your opinion may vary. They are both a very comfortable ride.
