Some of them are migrating back. I had at least a dozen of them on my pre-Thanksgiving DFW-LGA flight.
How did I recognize them?
They were the dozen folks who decided to ignore the numbers on their boarding cards and just take seats wherever they darned well felt like it.
We pushed back fifteen minutes late because of all the drama involved in reseating everyone. I partially blamed the FAs who, when discovering a person in a wrong seat, merely said "oh, can you find another seat?" to the other passenger. What was worse was that these "seat poachers" had grabbed seats in the first five rows of coach where elites were not willing to go to the back to take someone's center seat.
