CatMan - with my last round-the-world I am already credited over 50'000 miles on my miles&more-account. and one award is good for two (Catman be my guest). And you may remember the info about a new EWR-Basel-flight about 3 weeks ago. The Basel airport is only 45 minutes from this restaurant.
CatMan, whenever you will be in Switzerland, remind me of the auberge de l'Ill - and be my guest (without using miles). On that one day tour I will show you the wineyards of Alsace (which changed nationality 7 times in the last 110 years), old middle-age villages like Riquewihr, the sight of the european parlament: Strasbourg.
When I lived in Basel (from 1974 to 1985), we often made halfday tours to this lovely and history-rich countryside and the restaurants. Alsace has (beside Paris) the most michelin-stars (restaurants) per square-mile in France. On one of my Sunday trips to the auberge de l'Ill, accompanied only by my youngest daughter (age about 6 years then), I went through 6 courses (from "foie gras" to Gugelhopf - and she chose, on the waiters advice, 6 different deserts to accompany my plates.
