Just out of curiosity, did you consider the room you stayed in sub-par compared to other Sheratons? This place certainly isn't the CDG Airport Sheraton (nicest of the Sheraton brand I've seen), but I thought the newly renovated room quality was almost up there with Toronto Gateway Airport Sheraton & AMS Airport Sheraton.
To be honest, for the $59-$69 night I've paid to stay in this hotel, I didn't really expect much in the way of service. I never had any problems with check-in, though it seems your experiences with staff were rather frustrating/unpleasant. For the price paid, though, I really liked the room. Bedroom may have been a tad on the small side, but well-appointed and definitely looked new & spiffy. The location sucks, but it's only a few mins drive to the Galleria or Downtown. For the price, I don't think this hotel can be beat in Houston. Have not stayed at the 4P, though.
