Boarding a BA flight to Vienna last week, I saw a women arguing with a crew member. She had a handbag and a roll-on, and was pointing to other pax with roll-ons and duty free. "Well if I put my handbag in a duty free bag is that OK?" The crew member said "No, put it in the roll-on or we'll check the roll-on for you".

So, they can nab right as you get on the plane. A BP won't save you.

Also, I wonder if the BA staff in TLV will even let you on with your carry on and your laptop bag. Most out-stations have have notices warning LHR transit pax about the strict rules.
