I had always wondered this too - but I was more about "Y." Practically every airline used Y for full fare economy, but I don't know what it stands for. Is it just a random letter?

I used to use "C" for Business Class, but in recent years I have also moved to "J." I find that most airlines use "J" as a full fare Business Class bucket whereas "C" is often restricted Business Class.
