Missing the point here

To me, the reasonable expectation that the OP had was that upon checkin, Park Avenue staff would have mentioned that the aircraft configuration was changed, thus allowing the OP to have at least requested a window seat if one were still available.

Once you are walking onto the aircraft at boarding time, the options are more limited.

I didn't read the initial post as a snit about being downgraded -- although I have had the same happen to me and was mildly disappointed at the time -- but about the lack of any mention or sensitivity. Surely the staff realize that a coffin flight is less desireable than a suites flight, thus anyone booking the flight with the expection of suits will experience a minor letdown.

AA fulfilled the obligation and furthermore, if the flight went as scheduled then any reasonable person would say they fulfilled the basic promise as well. EC is a fact of life and sometimes you get a less attractive aluminum tube than expected, but grown-ups don't whine about that. They can, however, expect to be treated as a desired passenger flying a premium service -- international F, with a least a notice of the switch at check-in.
