Whenever I have to do a wipe and reinstall, I back up my entire application data folder. There is always something I forget to back up otherwise.

One of these days, I'm going to save an image of my HD to an external drive right after a clean install of my OS and apps (MS office, etc.) so that restores (as in format the HD and reinstall) will be quicker.
