san juan hotels are on an ocean beach- like Jones Beach on Long Island- with rolling surf and (to me) chilly water

it's not at all what i consider a "beach vacation" like anguilla

and there is a bioluminescent bay close to the El Conquistador

but the best, bio bay, is on vieques

but the only vieques "luxury" resort, martineau bay, is closing for a year's renovations (to reopen as a "W")

so i have no beachy PR suggestions for you, sorry- and i've stayed at the Ponce Hilton, (dirty black sand beach), Copamarina (loaded with seaweed), Horned Dorset (huge waves), El C (i never went to the beach, i just relaxed on the lawn by the pool near the marina) and most of the San Juan places

so I can't recommend any to you

i'd hop on a plane to Anguilla - or even St. Maarten for "beachy" - check it out on tripadvisor.com

and nov. 5 is the full moon- so your bio experience will be impaired due to the bright light in the sky
