I've heard that as well, but particularly with the older (-200) models. There was a documentary on the Discovery Channel once about an Alaska Airlines 737 pilot who flew 732s between Anchorage and airports like Dutch Harbor. It's almost bush flying with an airliner, and was a very insightful documentary. His comment was that they'd offered to move him on to more advanced aircraft, and he was happy right where he was, thanks.
