As we get in at 9.20pm, we would like to see if we can travel a good 3-4 hrs before stopping for the night.
Any suggestions as to where to stop, what the traffic conditions will be like out of JFK? We're not particularly keen on seeing NYC but would rather head away from the crowds.
Thanks in advance!
Having done the NYC-Toronto drive on many occasions, I would strongly advise against doing this after a long flight. Not too many nice hotels along the way. Its about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to Albany IIRC, another 3-4 hours to Niagara Falls and about 1 - 1/2 hours to Toronto. It might be better to stay somewhere in Westchester first, get a good nights rest and then make the trek up.
Another <better> option is stay close to the airport and fly to Buffalo, and then you are a short drive to Niagara Falls. While the drive is scenic, it is not worth the time back and forth on a vacation.
