It depends partly on which type of 744 is used on ORD flights.
The ones used out of JFK, for instance, (with sleeper seats in F) have 50" pitch in Prestige class, with a 2-3-2 layout downstairs, 2-2 upstairs.
The standard 744 has 42" pitch throughout but is 2-2-2 downstairs.
The narrower 777 is 2-3-2 with, I believe, 50" pitch.

On 744's, KE usually sits paying Prestige class pax upstairs and upgrading-with-miles pax downstairs.

My first choice would be upstairs on a sleeper 744, then a window on a 777 or downstairs on a regular 744.
