It's not good or bad. It is just a simple bilateral agreement. Most OW members codeshare with non-OW carriers including carriers who are in other alliances.
QF codeshare for example with both NZ and AF!
You only get credit when you are on OW metal however so don't think you can get on the KE flight and get away with getting credit for a JL codeshare.
