I agree. If United has an acceptable flight into the airport you were originally ticketed on and that works with your schedule AND they (United) have availability-space to put you on that flight demand that you be sent over to United. This most likely will have to be done at the airport as they usually have more flexibility but the elite line might be able to do it. Good luck.
