I have, but it has been a struggle - most hotel chains try to wriggle out of them. The only one I have had real success with is Marriott where as a Diamond I get complimentary upgrade at check-in to executive floor on any (non-priceline etc.) rate, or at least executive lounge access (= breakfast & evening drinks/canapes) if full, plus a few other things.

But the only way I got that was that I managed to find the person in Marriott responsible for the relationship with MPC and I now email her and get her to tell the hotel what they need to do whenever I stay at a Marriott. PM me if you'd like her contact details.
